Ian Rothall

The boss

Ian is primarily responsible for product development.

He has developed a long standing relationship with our supplier, Merits, based on mutual respect.  This gives Ian a great opportunity to provide feedback and have input in the development and improvement of product.

Ian enjoys catching up with family and friends, enjoy watching AFL and supporting the mighty Brisbane Lions.

He obtained his education through the ‘School of Hard Knocks’, and previously worked in the motor industry for 15 years where he obtained a number of qualifications and certificates.

Ian enoys building something and sharing the rewards with all stake holders. He believes smiles are a very important part of the job! 

Ian is proud to say that he, Yvonne and the wider team have built a small import to retail business in SA to a national wholesale company supplying over 150 customers
in every state.

Yvonne Rothall

The real boss

Yvonne is responsible for the administration of the company, and support in the day to day administration of the Brisbane warehouse. 

Yvonne loves going to the theatre, has just taken up bike riding and is doing her best to learn Italian!

Yvonne prides herself on having learnt more through running a succesful, nationwide company, and from life than she ever did at school!

She loves working with Ian to build the business and has loved the 20+ year, (bumpy at times) journey they have been on with Merits Australia.

Yvonne is grateful for the people that have taken the journey with her, and notes the people she’s met along the way have made it fun and rewarding.

If Yvonne could choose a them song it would be Helen Reddy I am woman!

Simon McKenzie

Regional Sales Manager

Simon likes going to watch basketball, AFL, and live concerts. He loves spending time in his garden and having fun with his wife, two kids and his two dogs.

Simon loves helping clients find the best product option possible, providing assistance to ensure each client makes the right choice of product for their individual needs.

Not only does Simon take pride in his work, but he also finds joy in making great relationships with clients – some of which have become lifelong friends!

Gary Williams

Warehouse assistant

Gary is 62 years old, going on 21! He is a proud married family man, with two boys and a future daughter-in-law to complete the household. He loves to holiday in his caravan, having recently completed a five month trip over Australia, stopping at all the best fishing spots!

Being a keen problem solver, Gary enjoys identifying, analysing, and correcting any potential faults before they arise, ensuring that everything runs smoothly.

His work theme song is Sweet Child Of Mine by Guns And Roses!

Scott Hocking

Warranty Supervisor

Scott is a proud father of four, with two children in their 20’s, and two teenage twins.

In his spare time, Scott is heavily involved in his local bowling club (shout out to Adelaide Bowling Club!), where he both participates and also coaches.

Scott’s past careers include being a Master Cobbler and a Master Cordwainer, but today he is proud to be working for Merits Australia.

His working soundtrack includes One Bud Wiser by Gretchen Wilson and The Muppet Show Theme!

Tim Joppich

National MANAGER - PROCUREMENT, PRODUCT AND LOGISTICS

Tim has been working with Merits Australia since 2003, starting his career as a Parts & Service Manager. His customer focus saw him move into Retail Sales, before promptly being promoted to Store Manager, National Sales Manager and ultimately landing in his current role.

With his extensive product knowledge of Merits Australia’s equipment, and his unique understanding of the retail sales environment, Tim’s experience is second to none.

Tim takes great pride in his work and seeks to forge strong long-term relationships with his agents, clients, and suppliers.

Trevor Bowley

Regional Sales Manager

Trevor is Merits Australia’s Warehouse Manager, however he takes many various tasks under his wings. His 35 years experience in the electronics industry, combined with his finesse for relationship management, sees Trevor as a conduit between sales, parts, and service.

Trevor’s go-getter attitude and attention to detail has seen him become a vital component in supporting our agents.

When he’s not relaxing in Bali, Trevor’s main responsibly is to keep Tim in line and our agents happy!

Wayne Langley

The parts man

Wayne’s World; a dark cavern at the back of the warehouse, known as the Parts Department! Wayne is a relative newcomer, but his ability to make sense of 10,000 different parts for 50 diverse lines and various models is a tribute to his tenacity and many years of experience working in parts departments. 

His ability to do this all in good humour and his single-mindedness to do the very best for his customers is testament to his focus on customer service.

Jason Morrison

Chief Operations Officer

Jason joined Merits in 2022 and is ultimately responsible for all aspect of the business.
He has taken over managing the business from “..The Boss and The Real Boss..” so they can take a step back and enjoy the fruits of their labour.

Jason is an approachable and dedicated CPA accounting professional and has held Accounting and Finance positions for the last 17 years. He has experience in leading teams to deliver high level financial reports and analysis. He brings skills and experience ranging across various industries including aged care, disability, health, manufacturing (FMCG) and auditing.

Jason enjoys working in a business that provides a benefit to the community and enhances people’s lives and he looks forward to continuing to grow, develop and enhance the company to take it to the next level.

When he is not working Jason enjoys cycling and spending time with his family.

Darrin Field

Sales Manager & educator

Darrin is the new boy on the block, joining the Merits team in late 2022. His experience and knowledge working the past 18 years in assistive technology and selling Merits products in previous roles has earnt Darrin his educator title.

With the large responsibility of managing the SA warehouse and looking after our excellent Victorian clients, Darrin has the utmost faith in the products he sells and the team he surrounds himself with.

This wealth of knowledge gives Darrin the confidence to educate dealers and OTs on our range of products. If you have a question, Darrin has the answer.

 If Darrin’s three active teenagers aren’t taking up all his time, he enjoys driving or tinkering with his collection of classic and racing cars.

Carol Garrick

Administration

Carol’s favourite part of the Merit’s work family is the company’s great culture, she loves the supportive environment and her daily interactions with the nationwide team.

With several years’ experience in customer service and finance/admin Carol is diligent, efficient, and always friendly. Outside the Merits realm Carol spends time with her growing family as a devoted grandparent, listening to her husband’s band perform or in her quiet time she’ll have a book in hand.

Scott Cooper

Warehouse Supervisor

Scott has been an important part of the team at Merits Australia for the past three years, utilising his experience in warehousing to provide value to the team. Scott particularly enjoys working at Merits due to the friendly workplace and great culture that the company promotes.

When he’s not working hard in the warehouse, you can find Scott tinkering with his car or keeping active at the gym or on the tennis court.

Greg Coman

Regional Manager

Greg is a married father of three, who loves to start the day with a good coffee and to end it with a cold beer. In between refreshments he enjoys surfing, modifying motor bikes and cars, and embarrassing his kids with his dad jokes!

Greg has certificates in Supervison, Management, Work Health and Safety, Connect and Disconnect High Voltage, and an Electrical trade certificate.

His work anthem is Rather Be by Clean Bandit. He says, “as it states in the song – there’s no place I would rather be!”
